Astrid Cowan and Ron Berman first met in Los Angeles. Astrid was playing piano with her Jazz trio and Ron was playing Jazz and Classical guitar in near by clubs and restaurants. They share a deep love for Classical and Jazz Music and have built a partnership that works personally and professionally.

Both musicians were living parallel lives. Astrid was in San Francisco studying Classical piano with Katrina Krimsky, hanging out at the Keystone Corner and listening to and meeting jazz greats Art Blakey, Woody Shaw and Joe Henderson. Ron was earning his Masters Degree at the New England Conservatory studying with George Russell while going to clubs hearing artists such as Miles Davis, Cannonball Adderly and Bill Evans. Ron also played in small groups with Jaki Byard and J.R. Mitchell in Boston, New York City and Philadelphia.

Today Astron Jazz, an independent and growing company, knows how much perseverance, time, money and guts it takes to cut a path in the music business. Specializing in Jazz, Classical and Original Music, Astrid and Ron perform together and work independently with a variety of different clients and musicians and have established their presence on the Jazz scene. Since 1998, Astron Jazz has produced 5 CDs and has been involved in other projects including CDs, Publications and Films.
